Disabled people are benefited under the Gharaunda scheme of the Government of India. Gharaunda scheme has been implemented at 40 places in the country through the National Trust. Under this scheme, arrangements are made for the disabled to live. They are given all the facilities. Along with that, they are taken good care of. They are also supported in their studies. Apart from this, basic medical treatment is also provided to them.
A maximum of 20 disabled persons are admitted in one batch of any one Gharaunda centre. All expenses like their stay, food, medical care, education etc. are borne by the Gharaunda centre. Niramaya Yojana
Niramaya Yojana of the Government of India is an insurance scheme. Which has been brought especially for the disabled. Only disabled people can apply in this insurance scheme. Medical cover up to Rs 1 lakh is given under the Niramaya Insurance Scheme. All kinds of things like OPD, treatment, medicines, surgery, medical tests are covered in this scheme.
There is no need to undergo any test before applying for the scheme. Disabled persons coming from BPL families have to pay Rs 250 under the scheme. On the other hand, those disabled persons who do not fall in the category of BPL families have to pay Rs 500 for this.
Indira Gandhi National Disability Pension Scheme
Disabled people are also given a disability allowance by the government. Pension has been arranged under this. Under the Indira Gandhi National Disability Pension Scheme, disabled people are given a pension of ₹1500 every month. For this, disabled people must have a disability certificate issued by the government. In a pension of ₹1500, ₹1200 is given by the state government, while ₹300 is given by the central government.
